There is never a shortage of projects to be done around the lake and Club property.   If you have the time and want to fill your workday requirement at a different time this year and are not sure what needs done, never hesitate to reach out and we will share an updated list of club help needs!
Hope to see you at the Lake!!

Clubhouse Status

The clubhouse is now closed for the winter. The water is shut off and bookings are by individual request and without running water.  For any rentals during the winter (1 Dec through 31 Mar), a $15 per night surcharge will added to help cover fuel costs.

WCO Lake Inspections

This note is to once again bring to everyone’s attention the importance of maintaining proper fishing licenses, boat registration and safety equipment while out on the lake.

September 7th, Lake Underwood was again visited by a PA Waterways Conservation Officer (WCO or aka…Fish Warden).  During his inspection, the Officer informed us that they are now following a new state enforcement program for private lakes and we should expect to see them visiting our lake more frequently.  He claimed to have visited Lake Underwood about ten times this year and has issued a ticket on the lake as recently as this past July.

Please spread the word to your families and guests so everyone can continue to have a positive and safe experience out on the lake.

Thank you to Kirk Moir for talking with the WCO and passing this information for all of us!

Happy boating and fishing,

Matt O’Donnell

Follow Up to 125th Anniversary Celebration

Fellow Members,
What a fantastic weekend long anniversary celebration!
I wanted to send this follow up email out to, once again, thank EVERYONE who participated in making the weekend a memorable and historical event!
Right from the Friday night gathering with the sight of pontoon boats heading out to tour the cottage lit lakeside.  The well presented decor of the tents, tables and set up Saturday with a gathering of members and families that linked many years of our club together.  Faces from past along side future members and a unity of a Club that all share a combined love for the beauty of our lake!  Then to close with a great Sunday brunch as “icing of a cake” sealing three days of perfect weather and festivity!   What an amazing historical weekend!
With so many people to thank, I neglected on Saturday to thank everyone who donated funds for the fireworks Saturday night.  They were a perfect fit to the weekend events……Thank you all !!
And once again,  THANK YOU to the LUNC 125 Anniversary Committee (Cheryl Rorke, Ann Slick, Barb Mushel, Sydney Long and Helene Marshal).  You all did an incredible job !!!!!
Photos will be posted on our website soon and please share yours on our Facebook page!
The weekend was a true reminder of what a great Club we have!!!

Countdown to the 125th Anniversary Celebration!

Eight days and counting until our 125th Anniversary Celebration!

We are expecting a record turnout of 180 participants over the three day celebration, representing 80% of our members and their families.  With that many folks coming, we wanted to reach out to share some celebration details:

Parking
No parking will be available at the Club House Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Instead, a parking area has been prepared in the field above the sand mound.  Guests are asked to park their cars in the field and walk down the hill to the tents set up next to the Club House.  Special thanks to Justin O’Donnell for creating a road up to the field. Transportation will be provided for folks unable to walk that distance.

We Need Your Help- Please Volunteer
Volunteers will play a critical role to ensure a smooth and successful event.  Please consider volunteering for a 2 hour shift over the three days.  We need folks to help with the set-up, clean-up, work as bartenders, empty trash cans, sell raffle tickets, and the list goes on. Please email us back to lend a helping hand.  Thanks to those of you who have already volunteered!

It’s Not Too Late to Purchase Merchandise
Members who already ordered merchandise can pick it up at the celebration.

Barb Mushel and the picnic committee will be taking orders for clothing merchandise during the celebration plus we will have other non-clothing merchandise to sell at the event.  See attached merchandise order sheet for clothes only.  Cash or checks made out to LUNC will be accepted.  For those of you requesting that the clothing orders be shipped to your homes, a shipping charge will be added.

Light Up the Lake
Friday night boat rides will be provided.  Members with cottages and docks are asked to decorate their property with lights.  Saturday evening hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided at a lakeside bonfire under the stars.  A spectacular fireworks display will cap off Saturday activities!

Kayak Races and Volleyball Games to Be Held on Saturday
Gather your volleyball team members together to compete in the Lake Underwood Nimrod Games!  Kayak racers will compete to take home a trophy!

125th Anniversary Celebration Update

Great news!  We are expecting a record turnout of 200 attendees at our 125th Anniversary Picnic Celebration.  Thanks to those of you who sent your RSVP’s in.  This will be a grand picnic with lots of fun activities planned.

Unfortunately, we have now reached our capacity and cannot accommodate any additional attendees.

Also, we are in need of assistance.  If you would be willing to volunteer to provide a helping hand for a couple of hours anytime over the three day period (especially on Saturday) we would greatly appreciate it.  Just send me a return email and let me know which day you would be willing to help (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).  I’ll get back in touch with you with the details.  Thanks in advance for your help and support to make this the best picnic celebration ever!

Sincerely,
